Please follow all of the rules listed here, and stay to them. I'm not going to cut off your head if you mess up on something, but keep yourself in check afterward. These are in place so that everything goes smoothly, especially concerning characters created, and for people's own well being.- General Rules
- Respect everyone. Period.
- My number one rule on this entire site is to be respectful to each other. I don't care if you hate someone with a passion, but on these boards, everyone is treated with respect, and no one is to verbally assault, or do any other harm, to another person.
- No Chatspeak in posts and only to some extent in chat
- Chatspeak is probably something we're all use to at some level, but on this board, there is to be no chatspeak within the RP or any other post made within the boards. Some simple chatspeak is okay in chat (ex: gtg, ttyl, etc.), but otherwise, spell out your words please.
- Limited Profanity
- We're all young people, near adults, or already adults, and while some of us don't mind, please keep any profanity down. Some here and there is fine, but please no ranting using one word every other sentence.
- Advertising and Affiliates, please go to the board =)
- Anyone looking to advertise their board or to be affiliated with us may go to the Advertise and Affiliates board located just on the main page. Please read all of the instructions to go about advertising or affiliating your board. Affiliating is also very precise, so please read everything (and I mean everything).
- Role Play Rules
- Be Literate to Advance Literate (Intermediate to Advance)
- This is a Literate to Advance Literate RP (Intermediate to Advance), meaning that if you are Semi-Literate (someone between Beginner and Intermediate) or just starting to be Literate (Intermediate), this is probably not the place for you. Everything from the beginning of this post (starting with "The Rules") to the end of my last sentence before this one is 334 words and that's not even the minimum of what I hope to expect from writers on here. That's barely even half the upper minimum of what I hope from some people. The minimums of what I hope people will strive to do in their writing is to top off 300 to 500 word posts each. To me, that isn't a lot, and anyone that has been writing for a long time, at least three to four years, would probably think it's not a lot either. Writing is more a habit than an attempt, and when it becomes a habit, you start seeing people who are higher than Literates, becoming Advance Literates within at least a year, maybe less depending on how much one writes. If you're starting to write as many as 300 words, keep at it! =D I'm not that picky, but just try your best. Does writing a lot make one a better writer? No, but they generally go hand in hand, in some mysterious and strange way, especially with novelists. I only set an expectation because I want the person responding to you to have some more ideas as to what to respond with using their character. It might sound like I'm saying that quantity is better than quality, but it's actually the opposite. In some cases, quality writers tend to write more because they have more ideas as to what to write about. They tend to write more because they want to give their reader a better idea as to what's going on. Some writers don't write as much, yet are still great writers, but just for simplicity's sake and the sake of every RPer that wants a decent person to write with, please give it your best! ^-^ Of course, we have our off days, or we just don't have any inspiration to really write anything. If that happens, that's cool. Take your time, and yeah, on my off days, I'll probably write some posts that are only a hundred words or so. It happens, just continue to strive to be a better writer =)
- This is a Medieval/Fantasy RP; swords and such only; no guns
- From the story thread, there isn't much to really get an idea as to what the period is, but to further explain, we're in a time more akin to swords, spears, shields, armor, ninja, and all the other stuff we're all familiar with. Fighting blade against blade, and there is magic present in the world. However, there are no guns in this world.
- Be logical in your posts
- Nothing kills a thread more than when we're not logical or we don't make sense. If someone is not being logical or their post doesn't make sense, be blunt about it and tell them. It's not going to hurt us letting us know we made a mistake. Again, be respectful, hear the comments and see what you can do so that it makes sense, or at least clarify what you really meant in the post: people might have read it wrong.
- Please keep everything PG-13
- Obviously, violence is allowed in the RP. If there are graphic details, these can be handled on a case by case basis. What I consider graphic might not be to another person, so we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. And again, to state the obvious, Romance is allowed, as people fall in love and so forth, so we will treat this as real life. People can get pregnant, but if they do, please PM me so that I can note of it for later. Please don't describe having sex with the other person, as it goes against the TOS (technically we HAVE to be PG-13 because of it, so it's not because of my decision, it's because Proboards requires it).
- Any sexuality is allowed
- As Romance is allowed in the RP, any sexuality is allowed. If one person wants to be homosexual, they can be, and if they want to be bisexual, they can be. While there may be straight characters in the RP, please do not be discouraged from making a homosexual or bisexual character if you want to make one. However, any bashing, harassment, or any other form of harm toward anyone because of that person's sexual orientation or because of that person's character's sexual orientation will not be tolerated.
- Please use correct punctuation
- Obviously, as people are going to be writing quite a bit, please make sure you punctuate everything correctly. Capital letters, periods, and everything else should be good with no apparent errors. Commas, colons, semi-colons, and such though are a little tricky depending on what you are wanting, so you don't have to be perfect with them. I'm certainly not.
- Godmoding (Semi-Forbidden); Powerplaying (Forbidden)
- As this is a Literate and Advance Literate site, you should be aware without me telling you that Godmoding and Powerplaying are severely looked down upon in RPs. The reason I do not completely forbid Godmoding is because in a RP such as this, what is considered Godmoding is allowed to some extent because of obvious power differences. Having a normal soldier fight against a Dark Warlord would not make sense if it was strict in the sense that the Dark Warlord could not have the complete upper hand. There are solid, in the ground, rules regarding certain aspects of this rule, but in general, please use common sense when dealing with battles. If need be, each one can be handled swiftly on a case by case basis. As for Powerplaying, however, this is forbidden, no exception.
- Your character can die
- While some people RP differently than others, in this RP, your characters can die, no matter their rank or station (unless they're needed for plot purposes concerning the entire site, such as the Dark Warlords, and in such cases where they might likely die, they will be handled case by case). However, characters cannot be killed within the first three months that they are made on the site. It would upset quite a few people if their new character, that they have been working on for days, is killed the next day after approval. There are ways to have it to where your character won't die, by avoiding combat, or escaping from a conflict. Unreasonable, or forced deaths, despite pleas from the player that they don't want their character killed, will be frowned upon and likely appealed. Deaths can be appealed, yes, but only if there is reason enough to. For myself, I frown upon deaths, as it is just wasted effort on the player's part if they spent time on a profile, and find they haven't done everything they could with them. So until further notice, deaths are frowned upon, though they can happen.
- Only one account for all characters
- For every person on here, you can create as many characters as you want, provided you can keep up with them all, and they're on only one account. I will not allow multiple accounts for one person, as it shows an inconsistency and inaccuracy of how active this site is, and how many people are on it.
- Every character can only be in one thread at a time
- For right now, each character can only be in one thread at a time. If activity is such that the person you are RPing with is inactive for more than one to two weeks, end the thread however you see fit without it resulting in any harm to the other person's character. Unfinished threads will not be counted and be considered invalid toward your character's history. I want the timeline of this RP to be consistent, as each person will be responsible to keep track of what date the character is on (more explained below).
- This RP keeps track of dates (Day 1, Day 2, etc.)
- This is very important! From the start of this RP to infinity and beyond, when you RP, you MUST keep track of how long your character has been around, and what they do when, where, how and why. Obviously if you're new, you don't have to be as accurate, but once you start RPing, you have to be. When you RP with a character, you must be aware of where they are and what day they are on. The day of the Guardian Festival is treated as Day 0, all days before treated as negative days (Day -1 would be yesterday, if today was Day 0, and Day -2 would be the day before yesterday). For the sake of keeping this simple as far as weather so I don't have to create an entirely new calender, Day 0 is considered the equivalent to December 31, so Day 1 is considered January 1. We aren't going to call it January 1, 2, 3, etc. because obviously, we're on a different planet =P Plus we won't be strict as far as what happens with the weather, as you can see by the side panel by the months, so everything just varies. There are going to be 365 days in a year, no changes, and to save our brain from headaches, there won't be any leap years.
- No one knows the Emperor is dead.
- I'm only going to say it once. I will send my army of kittens after you if you say you know XP Even though many people have died and such, we don't want everyone knowing just yet, so it's for us to know, and for our characters to find out later when they're skinny dipping for some reason XP
- Your first character has to be weak
- There are no exceptions to this rule. Period. Trust me, you get tired after a while of creating super powerful characters that you want to barf >.> It's fun, but damn...time to start over XP With your first character, they start off at rock bottom and at that point, everyone at rock bottom are considered equals (power wise, though their egos can certainly not be XP). There won't be anything special about them, but they can be good in some areas, depending on what you want. Don't go overboard though, because profiles will be looked at closely, and race specific abilities will be given a warning to just watch what they're doing while in the RP starting off, as they can have a good advantage overall. If you want your character to have a special ability or something, that must be the only thing, everything else has to be normal at that point. As people are starting off weak, please keep their ages young (even for races, keep it young), and by young, between 18 to 25, just to keep it simple. Best to keep it that way so we don't have someone who is 16 fighting someone who is 35, which wouldn't make sense strength wise.
As a last note before people go off to make their characters, I hope you all have a fantastic time here with us, and be with us throughout our hardships (and constant troubles as I know I'm going to get headaches from all of my complicated ideas @.@ And probably eye problems from reading everything and making you all read them too. Sometimes my best ideas are always the most complicated and impossible. It's my curse, unfortunately T-T).
