This profile is not yet finished. You may send concerns to me about the character (even if it isn't yet finished, it probably would contain most of what's written already...) via private message... since it would be unwieldy to post in this thread.
Name: Amemiya
Title: the Watcher
Rank: Honorary Midshipman
Gender: None; appears as a Male human.
Race: Water Elemental - an Elemental is a creature purely made of one element, though there are some, rarer, with two or more. Magic keeps them together, and so to them it is essential; a seven-year old elemental must be capable enough of simple magic in order to gain a humanoid shape. Some, though not all, take the guises of other races where they exist, while some roam, amorphous, little more than monsters. They are sensitive to the Viscus Minuo, and other lesser artifacts or phenomena of magic, or their element; in fact, they do not reproduce, but are created from these sorts of things. They only need to 'eat' their own element to regenerate, though they can still ingest other substances for energy.
They can seem to be invincible, as they do not show injury when attacked, but they are as vulnerable as any other mortal race, only that they cannot be maimed. They share the weaknesses of their element; for Amemiya, he can suffer greatly from dehydration, lightning, and strong enough fires that can evaporate him; freezing him is easier than freezing a human, but it would be nonlethal, and he cannot, obviously, drown. Weather and terrain can be beneficial, or detrimental to him; he is almost helpless in a desert, where he would have to concentrate just to keep himself together, but in oceans and rainy weather, he can be a formidable threat. His freeform anatomy means that certain substances will not poison him... and some will, surprisingly, be harmful.
Age: 23
Class: Guardian - Hydromancer
Appearance: Amemiya looks a lot younger than his age, in particular because his appearance is crafted by his magic; there are other elementals who are better at shapeshifting, and have a variety of forms, but that is not Amemiya's expertise. When not merely a shifting, vaguely human-shaped 'blob', as he could seem to be when unconscious, he takes on an the appearance of a young boy, about thirteen or fourteen years of age, small and deceptively, seemingly fragile.
By height, in his human form, he is relatively small; he stands only about five feet and four inches. His body is lean and light, though not excessively skinny, and definitely not in any way muscular. His face is heart-shaped, framed by white hair ending halfway through his neck, hiding his ears, and some of his forehead. His eyes are bright blue, scintillating, appearing much like the seas themselves. His expressions are mild, though not necessarily meek; sometimes they even appear to be scheming.
Generally, his clothing consists of loose, comfortable stuff; he is most often seen with a jacket, a scarf, and some simple slacks. He doesn't really care that much what he wears, only that it protects him from the elements and keeps him comfy. The hues of his wardrobe range from muted ones, like grey, white, brown or beige, though an occasional blue or yellow finds its way once in a while.
Weapons/Items: None.
Novo Animus: Unknown
Talents: As a Water Elemental, Amemiya has practiced much in his race's brand of intuitive magic. He can sense the whereabouts of water, allowing him to detect where it is in the vicinity; these include certain living things that have large amounts of water, such as humans, though he could only detect them; he is, as of yet, incapable of extracting water from closed biological systems (although he could probably try extracting water from another water elemental, and it would turn into a sort-of magical tug-of-war...).
He can control water to do his bidding, and he has pretty much concentrated on this ability, honing it as much as he could. He can turn it into its vaporous forms, creating clouds, fogs, mists. He can use it as a weapon, like a flail, or as a projectile, or even, if he has enough water, a gushing wave. Since his body is also made of water, he can manipulate it at will, making him more flexible, allowing him to dodge in ways other races can't. Ultimately, he is limited to the amount of water, and its state, in the surroundings, and even then, he still isn't skilled enough to control more than a certain amount of water. Water is not, by nature, a treacherous element, and so Amemiya isn't as powerful as other elemental mages in combat.
Sharpening his detection abilities is his empathy, a trait that seemed to have come to him randomly, unlike his hydromancy. It is still in an infantile stage, but it allows Amemiya to notice changes in a person's emotion, though it still isn't very useful, since those who have strong emotions tend to show it in their faces, and those who don't show it in their faces often bottle up their emotions inside. At the very least, Amemiya can use his empathy to determine a person's unique 'signature', allowing him to tell people apart, and making him hard to deceive via disguise.
Personality:
Amemiya is stoic, silent, laconic, and even when you become acquainted with him it always seems that he's not saying something, that he's bottling up certain secrets and facts. He is almost always calm, seemingly impossible to disturb, impossible to anger, a paragon of tolerance, an enigma of distance. He has a way of being detached from events, and although he may or may not be affected by them, he will not usually show it. His expressions are mild, either small frowns or small smiles. He can be very cool and level-headed, sometimes even humorous in a tense situation, but even if the company of friends make him much less terse, there is always a part of him that is obscure, like the hidden side of the moon.
What is for sure about Amemiya is that he is kind. He is gentle, and while he may be less than careful, he tries to be considerate and open. He is patient, reverent, and respectful, in his speech, polite and gracious, and very hard not to get along with. His clear goal in any conflict is to resolve it without fighting, or if that cannot be helped, to disable, sometimes to maim, but always without death, always minimizing the shedding of blood. He is affable and generous, and while he would not start a conversation by himself, he would gladly keep the talk going for someone who wishes to. Even in the face of less benevolent individuals, Amemiya keeps his promise to himself, his morals set by his beliefs, and he remains merciful, even when some find him too lenient.
Jaded people often attribute naivety to Amemiya, but this is very far from the truth. True, Amemiya is stubborn, and even while he is open-minded he holds fast to his ways, and so far there has been no argument that has convinced him of the fallacy of his position. Amemiya is intelligent, perceptive, quick to learn and quick to think; in fact, it is his mind and not his magic which often proves to be the better tool. He is specially good with other people, and he is empathic and understanding, he who people find hard to understand. As much as Amemiya uses his reason, his emotions remain a part of him, and he uses them to see where reason cannot. He seeks to be more powerful, for he knows that one has to be more powerful than his opponent if one wishes to defeat him without inflicting something fatal.
Being righteous does not mean being rigid; Amemiya is quite playful at times, and his intellect makes him easily see the ironies of life, and he finds a way to be cheerful. His optimism, while silent, is fierce. His nature is very generous towards others, towards even indiscriminate fate, but he places little worth in himself. He has a tendency to blame himself for things that go wrong, even if they may not be entirely his fault. It is also because of this that Amemiya keeps track of 'debts' of gratitude, often seeking to pay back those who have helped him, in whatever little way or another. He is a lonely person, and it makes him appreciate the littlest things. All in all, Amemiya is a good-natured person, a wandering spirit, a grinning trickster, a seeker of friends.
History:
Amemiya was created from a storm, as were some more of his kin, in the waters surrounding the fabled capital of Parocus, Morlinjaka. As an infant, his body was full-grown, but his mind was still a child's, playful, careless. Still, the elemental had a helpful streak, and liked other races, playing with the fishes or the elusive Naga when they rarely appear, and helped humans off shipwrecks caused by the storms that birthed his 'family'.
The Elementals wandering around that blustery domain knew each other, even though they had no set customs or rituals as other civilizations; they simply wandered off to do as they pleased, and greeted each other when they met. Amemiya, like many of his kind, didn't stay long in one place, though they were always in the same large, relative area, and lived alone, though he made some friends who tailed him, like the Wind Elemental, Yuana, who insisted to be his 'little sister', for she was slightly younger than him.
Juvenile, formless and inexperienced, they were only around two or three years old when they were captured by slave traders, along with a variety of rare species.
